  • Decklink Does Not Fit in Slot 4 on 2nd Gen G5’s

This is not the “tight fit” issue mentioned in the FAQ. We just got a new 2.3Ghz G5. There is a new connecter on the motherboard. It’s probably for a fan or something. The bottom BNC connector on the Decklink makes it impossible to fit because this new connector blocks it completely.

I have two SATA cards taking up Slots 2 and 3. The Decklink Standard cannot share the same bus with either of these cards as they are PCIX. Because of this, the Decklink must go in Slot 4.

Can someone tell me what that connector is for, and if it can be unplugged and rerouted somehow?

    The 2.3 is third Gen.

I think this is the “tight fit” issue mentioned in the FAQ. You have to literally bend the card to get it in. I couldn’t get it in myself so I had my reseller install if for me. It’s a really tough fit to get it installed. Does your reseller offer instalation?

Your bio says you’re in Southern Cali. Go to The DR Group. They can install it for you. They are the best with tech support. They installed my card. 323-960-1781.

    Hi Sean,

I faced the same problem when i bought my 2.3 dual G5, but it’s not a big issue though. When you slid in the Decklink, just gently push the connector up with the help of a flat screwdriver, not too much pressure just little.

    I hope that helps.

    cheers

I’m not sure we’re on the same page here. I’ll try and take a picture of it when I get a chance.

Ok, you guys are right. Sorry about that. I got it in there but I had re-route the cable coming out of the connector, and I had to literally bend back that connector. Again, this was not an issue for me with the earlier gen 2.5ghz machines.
