    Hello,

We have no problems controlling our Digibeta deck with the decklink built-in rs422 cable, but we can’t get it to work with our Panasonic AJ d950 and we have to use a USB keyspan adaptor as a work-around. Yes we have the settings for deck control set to panasonic rs422 and it works perfectly with the keyspan, on our decklink extreme, pro and SP systems but not with the built in decklink rs422.

To be clear we _can_ use the decklink rs422 for the digibeta and beta sp but not the panasonic. WIth the Panasonic deck and the Decklink rs422 hardware we can control the deck but attempts to capture are aborted and result in error messages.

I guess it’s all working ok as the workaround is just to use the keyspan for the panasonic deck. But i wonder why the decklink hardware is not working? Also I have to buy a new keyspan every time we put in a new system… bit of a pain.

Anyone else experience this? Is anyone successfully controlling the AJ D950 or similar deck with the built-in decklink rs422?

    Thanks

    Jason

    Hi Jason,

I believe the problem you are seeing first appeared with Final Cut Pro 5.0 and that your deck would have worked fine with Final Cut Pro HD 4.5. Does that match what you are seeing? If so, please email support[at]blackmagic-design.com and just mention you are using a Panasonic AJ-D950 and experiencing capture problems. We will email you a solution which should work with your model of deck.

Incidentally, I believe you will find that Blackmagic Deck Control has no problems capturing from your Panasonic AJ-D950 deck using the DeckLink RS-422 control.
