Final cut accepts 24 bit audio files on import (if not on capture). So if one does one’s audio mix in 24 bit and imports it, one can play it out of FCP and the decklink in 24 bit. OK. Digibeta is 20 bit. Where is the conversion from 20 to 24 bit done? In decklink? in the Digibeta? and if so how? is it dithered?

Does FCP and Decklink pass the 24 bit files through bit for bit? or is there some processing?

When we master to Digibeta from 16 bit programs.. how and where does the audio get up-rezed to 20 bits?

When you master to DVC pro … that is 16 bit… how does the system know that?

Does anyone care about their audio? If so and if you can answer these questions I’d be forever grateful.. can’t seem to locate the answers.
