deck never recognized
I am trying to simply capture footage into Avid Xpress Pro 5.7, but I always encounter the issue of Avid not recognizing my deck. Currently I have a Sony HC1000 NTSC camcorder set up as a deck. I know it is set up correctly through the firewire port because both FCP and iMovie recognize it automatically and capture through it. After configuring Firewire through OHCI, Avid still sees no deck. What can I do to make Avid recognize my deck? I have also used a Sony GV D300 that is listed as a deck option in Avid, but Avid still does not recognize it. I appreciate any help.

The HC1000 is not listed on the supported devices list – my guess is that is the problem. Have you tried setting it up with the generic template?

Yes, I have tried Generic deck settings. But the same problem happens even with a deck that is listed. Any other suggestions?

Assuming you are controlling the deck via firewire, make sure you select ‘OHCI’ as the channel in the deck settings.
Would it be safe to assume you’ve NEVER gotten control of a deck in Avid?

I am not new to Avid. I have had decks configured before on other systems, but for some reason my Avid Xpress Pro is having difficulty. I am connecting through firewire and have OHCI set.
