In Audition (or other software and even my camera) the decimal readings run a fairly short gamut, zero at the top and bottom of the screen and 33 then infinity at the middle. When I look up decibel levels of different sound in nature it is completely different. Normal speech is 60-65 decibel, a whisper is 30db, city traffic is 80db. it’s obvious I am completely misunderstanding decibels in real life and decibels on the screen or my camera for that matter. Can someone clear that up for me. The help files don’t seem to quite do it.
