In order to make any purchases on the iTunes Store, Apple is “forcing” users to install the latest and greatest iTunes application, and that includes a mandatory installation of QT 7.0.3. Rats! Has anyone upgraded to QT 7.0.x on Windows XP and been able to continue using AE 6.5? Or is this a definite recipe for disabling AE 6.5? I’ve read on Creative Cow that some people have been able to backstep to 7.0.2 and that it (maybe?) fixed (some?) problems with AE 6.5?

Thanks to you both! I’ll make the upgrade to QT7 and report back if any problems occur. Much obliged.

As a side note, if you have either a firewall or a network traffic monitor, you can inhibit the data sent by QT7 when you access iTunes. It’s not a big deal, but some people are nuts about security.

I am not certain what is being accessed or sent, but it was posted at the Adobe.com forums as a solution if you were concerned. Just FYI.

I have AE 6.0 Pro (Windows), I had to uninstall QT 7.0.3 and go back to 6.x. Another user had to do the same as well to get audio to preview and render.

Perhaps AE 6.5 has something 6.0 does not.

Well, ultimately it seems installing iTunes (and thus QT 7.0.3) had no ill effects on either After Effects 6.5.1 or my other software which involves Quicktime (i.e. 3DStudio Max 6). Specifically I had no sound issues in AE (importing QT files with sound, exporting with sound). Thanks for all your support everyone.
