  • De-Interlace fix?

The company I work for is asking for progressive/square pixel versions of a bunch of videos I built as 720×486 Interlaced (usually ProRes422HQ). They want small WMV or MOV files to put on their website or deliver to clients by electronic means.

Basically, I have to de-interlace these interlaced projects (I don’t want to rebuild all of them as progressive if I don’t have to).

I’ve tried using FCP’s de-interlace filter, Compressor’s de-interlace filter, Quicktime Conversion (with the de-interlace source material box checked), and even Flip4Mac’s WMV converter; nothing seems to do a good job. Either I get “combed” video, or my motion graphics get aliased edges.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Just convert the video to H.264 320×240 (unless you have 16:9 footage) Don’t worry about de-interlacing them. Hand it to them and they have want they want.
