DB limiter in Final Cut 6 (or 7)
For most of our “stuff” the sound is sent out to sound studios so we have the right sound levels and speak and so on for our promos and commercials.
But sometimes we have to go low budget and do the sound(levels) ourselves. This is one of our weaknesses, and to be honest we usually just wing it and hope for the best.
Is there a way to kind of auto limit the DB’s ? So if there should be a peak in sound it would just lower it. Is there a filter or function for that?
Or can you recommend a cheap and easy program for such a thing.

Try “normalize”
Non-linear: all the time and nothing but.

Check out the Compressor / Limiter plugin ( Effects > Audio Filters > Final Cut Pro > Compressor/Limiter)

Don’t normalise. This won’t do what you want.
I suggest you also learn about round tripping to Sound Track Pro which has much better audio tolls than FCP including compressor limiters.
