DaVinci Revival importing dpx files color information problem
I’m working with a new DaVinci revival system and I’m having some trouble. I’ve been getting unexpected colors when I apply an automatic module to my footage when I have imported DPX files that had been saved using the Glue Tools DPX plugin for final cut. This color problem does not happen if I convert the files using DaVinci revival’s converter but this takes so much longer that it eats up too much of my restoration time.
I can’t figure it out because when I import the dpx files exported from FCP (using glue tools), it looks fine. The moment I do something to it with an automatic tool, like remove a vertical scratch or use the grain reduction tool, all the colors in the region of interest change in to bright colors.
Any ideas? -

Like Christopher says, it is a good idea to send a couple of example frames to support. From the description, it sounds like the image file is “little endian” byte format. Some (not all) tools in Revival are not designed for little endian. Converting to big endian should solve the issue. This issue is on our radar.

One question though. How do you convert from little endian byte format to big endian?

never mind. I just exported it again and that fixed the problem. You were right, the settings were set to little endian. Changing it to Big Endian fixed my problem.

Good question. There are several commercially available products that will do this. Resolve could do this if it fits in your workflow. XnView will do this. I think even the Linux “convert” application might but I am not an expert on this. We will check your sample frames to make sure this is the issue, of course.
