davinci resolve lite for pc keeps crashing after import
Hello to everyone. I have installed davinci resolve lite for pc but when i import clips in the media pool, it keeps crashing if i click on a clip. Does anybody know a workaround for this?

Some codecs are incompatible with Resolve and the workaround for that, if it is determined to be the problem , is to recompress the media.

thanks for your reply, Joseph. Actually, i tried to import native canon h264 footage and dnxhd files. Both of these are compatible codecs (this is what i read at blackmagic’s website) but it still crashes.

DNxHD (Quicktime) is not supported. DNxHD is supported in an AVID MXF wrapper only.

If your system is not recognizing a supported GPU, it would crash as soon as your touch a media file in the browser. This might be what you are experiencing. When you launch Resolve, or when you log in, are you getting any GPU warning or error messages?

I already tried that (dnxhd in avid mxf) but with no luck. Thanks again for your reply, Joseph.

Exactly, Dwaine. A click on a media file in the browser makes resolve crash. There is a warning message (no cuda hardware detected) but i thought that this was just a warning message because i saw that ati cards are also compatible. Any card with cuda acceleration can solve my problem? Thank you for your reply.

That warning message is telling you that you have no CUDA support, so what you see is expected.
What type of Mac system do you have, and what type of GPU is in it?

Actually, i am on a pc (intel core i7 920 2.67GHz, 12gb ram, ati radeon hd4870 graphic card) with the beta version of resolve lite.

AMD/ATI cards (i.e. openCL) is not supported at all on the Windows platform. You MUST have an Nvidia card that supports CUDA.

Any Nvidia card that supports CUDA (even the low cost cards like gtx460) or only quadro?
