January 16, 2011 at 7:39 pmI took a look at QTchange and I couldn’t see how that will give a unique reel ID to the clips so that the conform is smooth. I conformed 90 minutes of material from 30 reels yesterday (over 700 clips), didn’t use QTchange but manually edited reel names (took less than half an hour), and only had 1 conflict, actually caused by the consolidate in FCP! Fixed the conflict in minutes. Let me know how well it works if you use it.

January 17, 2011 at 8:21 amI use QtChange a bit differently, by assigning a TC-track based on the creation date/time and assigning reel names based on folders. So, it’s not unique reel names, but TC is unique. Works well for DSLR footage.
But if you are that fast assigning individual reel names in FCP, that’s a valid workflow too, of course.

June 15, 2012 at 2:00 pmHi Uli,
your way with QtChange is only possible just before starting to edit, or is it possible to add TC after?
And Darren way to fit is good way of fixing after everithing is edited. Except case I can not import EDL from Vegas/Premiere roundtrip, just Avid can and Avid can not change (Reel) Tape name.
Isnt there just possibility to overvrite manualy EDL in TextEdit? Change name to ### digits?
Last question, what should be set in Davinci CONFIG – TIMELINE CONFORM OPTION????
