I am having issues trying to get DaVinci to read MXFs. I understand that for compatibility with DNxHD codec DaVinci needs a plugin however I am having issues regardless of the MXF codec.

I have created AFFs which reference MXFs in a verity of codecs which davinci supports (AVC, Uncompressed, XDCAM etc) yet DaVinci will not recognise any of these MXFs as compatible media files.

I am assuming this is a problem arising from our set up and/or workflow but cannot see where it is breaking down, does anyone have experience of this problem or can suggest a solution?

    cheers

having the same problem here. Funny thing is that it actually sees the .MXFs of older, Media Composer 5.0 projects… but the ones I’ve transcoded in MC 5.5 are invisible to DaVinci

did you find a fix for this?

What codec are you using for the MXFs?

I just did an AAF export where I consolidated to a folder and transcoded to DNxHD. I moved the resulting Avid MediaFiles folder into my DaVinci Media Pool folder and then imported the AAF. Everything seems to be working.
