    Hi,
I need to find a workflow for my avid(PC) and final cut station.
I want to only have one way to log & capture my stockshot (with cards or tapes). My goal is to put the captured sotck over my network and be able to take the captured sotckshot and put it in my FCP or AVID withtout doing logging and add notes a second time.
(I want to have a file that carries the metadata of my clips and that can be readable in FCP and AVID
I tried with quicktime but i can’t put metadata inside my Quicktime movie.
    Can anyone help?

    Thank you
    Mayrand

    Have you tried automatic duck?

Not only do you need metadata transfer, but you need compatible media files as well. Enter MXF. You should look into this MXF capture utility that would allow adding of metadata and then having that metadata be able to be accessible to both FCP and Avid. You will need a few tools to do this, but have a look here:

    https://mxf4mac.com/mxf-capture

    and then here:

    Thank you for your answer
Yes, I tought abour automatick duck but it wont help me here because its not the project itself that i want to transfer but only the stockshot.
I know that in FCP all the data i’m entering( log note, scene, take , etc) is set only in the FCP project and not the QT source.
I’ll take a look at your link and see…

[Guillaume Mayrand] “I know that in FCP all the data i’m entering( log note, scene, take , etc) is set only in the FCP project and not the QT source. “

Correct. Not only that, it will be a bit difficulat to work with certain QT files on a PC.

    What format are you capturing?

My logger can output for both Avid and FCP, and it can work with both tape and file based material.

    Have a look here:
    https://www.videotoolshed.com/?page=products&pID=24

Currently the Mac version is a bit more advanced than the windows version, and got some extra XML option to relink to files in FCP.
This works great for XDcam, but other file based relinking is untested.
Do toy with it, let me know your findings.
