    Hi,

I am trying to “snap” colors either to black or white. I am using my layer as a displacement map but there is still some subtle noise in the almost black area which gives me unwanted displacement!

I want to turn dark areas to a full black 0, 0, 0! Is there any effect that can achieve that?

    Cheers,

    Justin

Use the Color Correction > Levels filter. Simply take the Input Black up (drag the top left arrow to the right) and this will clip your blacks to the desired level.

You can also do the same with your whites (top right arrow).

    Hope that helps,
    Ben

Oh yeah Ben it does help!

I did use that one but I probably was too tired to tweak it properly! Now it works 🙂 Hopefully this post will be useful for other beginners…

    Cheers!
