    hi,

I have two questions about Dan Ebberts confetti expression:

01 – why do my particle keeps stuck at the inicial position at its first cycle and starts falling only after that?

02 – Since each of my layers (particles) have a diferent “life” value (duration on screen), many times when it reaches its outPoint it simply disappears from screen. I thought i could simply move the outpoint earlier on the timeline untill its last cycle, but when you

I’m not sure about the first question, (maybe it has to do with your comp size vs. what is set in the expression? did you enlarge your comp after the expresstion was set?

The first question is not really a big deal, i precomposed all the layers and set the inPoint a bit later, worked just fine.
The second question wont work setting all outPoints at once, cuz each layer have a different cycle time and different speed, so each layer should end at a different position in time…
Still messing around here, but thanx so far! =)

I’m not quite sure what you’re trying for. Is it that you don’t want the confetti layer to disapper while still on the screen? If so just lengthen the “life”, to something like 5 (highlight the 1.2 in dan expression and change it to 5)and for a standard NTSC 720×480 comp each confetti “particle” falls all the way down past the bottom of the screen before disappearing, in this case off-screen. With a long enough life (5 for a 480 pixel high comp) the particle won’t disappear while still onscreen.

Thanx for those who spent some time trying to figure it out, but i just got the formula i needed!!!
Just for sharing, my client asked tons of ballons (filling up the screen) going from bottom to top untill they

    Hi yikesmikes,

I had changed the Life value before, and it did solve the problem for 3 or 4 cycles (in my case raising all the way up past the top of the screen before disappearing off-screen), but the problem would come up again at the layer outPoint, when the particle havent had reached off-screen for its last time.

Glad you solved it. Your new expression seems to work well.
