(hello , i posted this one on the creative calf, sorry for the double posting but i thought ill get an answer here)

when watching the video on TV while editing on Avid xpress pro and i stop or pause, the footage look still on the TV monitor, but now while trying to watch the video from FCP (different project) and i pause , the footage keeps “dancing” on the TV monitor and all my freeze frames look the same

p.s.: the video goes through FW PAL
i tried changing the field in the sequence setting to none but it doesn’t look good

what is the problem and how can i solve it ?

THis is interlacing. The ‘dancing’ is a full frame of two different fields. It is not a problem it’s how video works. FCP does not have the built in capability to pause on a field it only pauses on a frame. External capture hardware will buy you this capability (such as products from AJA). If you need to make a still frame from that particular frame you will have to deinterlace.

    Deinterlace is under Video Filters.

[rap] “so do you suggest that after finish everything create new sequence move my sequence to that new one and apply the effect to the whole movie”

No, you should not apply it to the whole program as it’s NOT A PROBLEM. It’s how video works. If you de-interlace your whole program you will lose resolution. You need to apply this effect to freeze/still frames that you have made from your video only not to the moving video itself.
