Dabbling with MultiCam and syncing zoom audio to 2 5D Mk III
I’m still using FCP 7, but considering cutting a testimonial piece in FCP X. Wondering if I’m even thinking about this the right way…
I have 2 cameras, 5D MK II and 5D MK III, both with audio. And I have my boom/lav zoom audio. So I’m figuring the first step would be to highlight the 3 clips in the event and make a multi clip synced with audio? Works effortlessly to sync. Of course the DSLR audio is off by one frame. Always is for some reason. Wouldn’t know it if you don’t use a slate.
So it syncs it all up, and in the multi clip editor I move the zoom audio back one frame to sync it to the slate. I don’t need the camera audio anymore. I’d like to detach it and remove it from the multi clip but that doesn’t look like it’s possible. It doesn’t detach. Guess I can just turn off the channels in the two clips?
Anwyay, is this a viable method for cutting in this situation? I was thinking of just using FCP X as a replacement for plural eyes to sync my audio, but this looks like a good fit for X.
