Da Vinci resolve Project settings for red epic r3d video
1. In the Master Settings we have Timeline resolution set to 4k DCI and Color Science- DaVinci YRGB and Video Monitoring set to HD 1920x1080p 23.976 and Video connection- RGB single link 3db/s
(Our grading computer is connected to refernece monitor via decklink 4kextreme-hdlink pro dvi)
Does our master settings looks ok to you?2. Camera RAW settings… Decode Quality-Full Res Premium, Play quality-As above, Bit depth-16 bit, Time code-Camera, Decode using- Camera, Color science-Version 2, Color Space-Rec 709, Gamma curve-RedLogFilm, Blend type-None
We are really confused with camera raw settings… like color space should be rec 709 or red color 3? Bit depth 10 or 16 bit??? Decode using camera??? What do we need to change for our camera raw settings?
3. Look up Tables… what do we need to choose in 3d input and 3d out put lut options? 3d video monitor , color viewer and scopes look up table options?

Really, you can set this up many different ways.
Most people around here would say set you gamma to Red Log Film, and use Red Color 3. This will give you a flatter starting place. There is nothing “wrong” with starting with the camera settings, except you may find it difficult to bring back some of the detail in the blacks or whites, if the camera settings are a bit extreme. It will at least show you what the director saw on set…if that helps or matters.
You don’t “need” to add a lut either. If you don’t know how to use one, or why to use one, or which one to use, then don’t even play with that tab.
Also check your image cropping/scaling on input setting, to make sure you are seeing all the picture you want to see. Again, goes back to how the director was monitoring on set. If the shots were all framed for 16×9, then you may want to adjust your input scaling. If you are going to be letterboxing the whole show later, you may want some different settings to allow you more flexability.
