  • Cycore Mr. Smoothie, how to freeze the color loop?

Posted by Erik Eliason on January 25, 2013 at 2:30 pm

    Hi,
I try to get a golden metalic look on a footage and am quite pleased with the CC Mr. Smoothie effect to start with. However, in Mr Smoothie there’s a color loop that animates the samples A and B in various orders. I don’t want this to animate but can’t come up with any solution how to freeze it or disable it. Anyone?

    Hi Dave!
I did download it – and read it but what it says I already figured out intuitively:

    Color Loop
Use this pop-up menu to determine the direction of the gradient. Choose one of the following options, AB, BA, ABA and BAB. (A and B are the sample points)

There must be a way to shut this off, right?

I figure as it has a stopwatch, maybe there’s a script one could apply to freeze the loop?

You appear to be trying to use the effect for something that it wasn’t intended for.

If you’re trying to map colors to something that you can control in this fashion, check out Colorama.

    Hi Todd,
what I try to create with Mr Smoothie is the metallic texture, which I add Tritone to. Something like this picture:

As Color Loop animates the samples of the image, it makes the texture wander and seems to read the image differently across the time of the sequence, which was not what I had in mind tweeking the plugin:

I can’t really figure out how Colorama could create a texture that fluid?

Thanks for replying, Dave and Todd //Erik

    Dave,
so I can’t use Mr Smoothie to create my above given example for more than a frame. With your After Effects experience could you give me any suggestion of how to create a metallic effect from the footage in a similar style?
