CVBS out question
Posted by Marc Colemont on April 30, 2010 at 10:56 pmI would like to connect a waveform and vector scope to the CVBS composite output while capturing in HD.
But that doesn\’t seem to work, as the composite output only becomes active when downscaling to SD??
Is there a certain setting that I can do instead?Marc Colemont replied 15 years, 8 months ago 4 Members · 12 Replies -

what are you using composite SD scopes for if you are not also monitoring in SD while in an HD capture?gary adcock

The reason is that I have this unit, and is helpfull to check levels.

May 7, 2010 at 8:44 amI found the way to do this yes.
– Out Convert at ‘SD’
– Component out at ‘Out Convert”
The analog Component is hardware related to the Composite Out since there is only one DA inside, I was told by AJA support guy. Maybe the Menu should say ‘Analog Out’ instead of ‘Component Out’ then.I do had to try multple times, as I only got green flickering output. (After trying and changing many settings) Rebooting the unit did the trick.

September 11, 2010 at 5:26 pmThe manual indicates that all outputs are live except for the composite out unless you are downcoverting what you are recording.
has anyone else had success with this? It would be a huge bonus to be able to hand a client a DVD at the end of a show before taking the HD version into post production.
Can you give more details on how you did this?

September 12, 2010 at 5:12 amThe Composite port is ONLY active when the Analog outputs are set to downconvert your footage to SD.

September 12, 2010 at 1:36 pmAs has been mentioned in this thread. Set the out
Convert to downconvert and composite will activate. -

September 14, 2010 at 10:06 pmThanks for the info. That confirms what I already believed to be the case.
I read the earlier thread and thought he was saying that you could record HD and still have a downconverted feed at the composite video out. Which would be nice.

September 15, 2010 at 2:08 amYes it does that. You can record in HD while activating the scaler in the output. It will generate a Composite signal simultaineously lile described above.
