cutting on desktop and laptop with 1 external drive
Hi,
I’ve just started editing (Premiere Pro CC) on my Windows 10 desktop pc, the rushes are all on an external drive.
I will want to continue the edit on my laptop then later back to desktop etc., so should I keep the project file on the external drive along with the rushes? Are there other files/folders that I should also keep there?
Or is there a better way to achieve this?

hmmmm….
In windows….since it’s got letter based paths for local devices…
might want to keep the project on the drive…then import rushes from same drive relative to it, preferably subordinate, I’d think.
unless it’s windows functionality has changed…or you take the time to manually override it…you may not be sure what letter windows will assign….if you are disconnecting reconnecting the device…between desktop and laptop….so you want to minimize relink issues…
but I’d defintely hear what others have to say on this one…

OK, thanks for input. So what’s the best way to do this? Should I use 2 drives with identical rushes then export an EDL each time I switch from one machine to the other?

if the project is saved on the external…
you’d just open it on either the desktop or laptop…
no edl export needed….
