Cut Video NOT audio
Posted by Michael Nolting on June 20, 2022 at 7:32 pmIs there a way to cut the video on a timeline without cutting the audio.
I need to make a copy of the video and drag it over the existing video.
This is needed when creating PIP in Multi-Cam editing.
Thanks

June 20, 2022 at 7:39 pmYou can unlink the audio from the video and then option drag it up as a Connected clip.

June 20, 2022 at 8:03 pmAdding to Eric’s advice, if doing multicam, you could cut the video in multicam mode.
Or
If you want the PinP effect, just drag the “second” video on top of the existing video. Reduce second video (top video) in size, and you have your PinP effect.

June 21, 2022 at 12:17 amAs suggested by an earlier reply, cut the video that you want to PIP at both ends. Hold the Option key and drag the clip upward from the timeline to make a copy of that clip as a connected clip. Then reduce the audio of the connected clip to -infinity. Resize the connected clip to the desired size and modify its X and Y coordinates to position it where you want it to be for the PIP. You can even add a Border or Shadow effect to the PIP if you want to.
