I have another thread explaining a problem I have been having with MP4 rendering slowing down after a reinstall of my OS and Vegas. Well, I found my problem.

In the Options/Preferences/Video tab, there is a selection called GPU acceleration of video processing option. I have a Lenovo W530 with Nvidia K2000m GPU, so I had that selected as my device to render with. Well, I changed it to the stock built in integrated Intel HD4000 craphic, and boom, my rendering times for both GPU and CPU dropped from 56 to 44 seconds per minute!

WTF? WTF is right…..I don’t know why it is doing this so stupidly, but I figure others may want to give the same setting a try, just to see if they get the same improvement in rendering speed.

Sounds like the HD4000 has more power than the other video chip. With OpenCL at least. Always try all options to see which works best for you.

If both GPUs were listed in that dropdown, it means that both GPUs are being seen by the OS, which is not good. The integrated GPU (if it is weaker than the other GPU) should be disabled in the BIOS. Having two different GPUs active in the system is a no-no.
