  • Customizable Timecode in Sony Vegas Pro 11.0?

Posted by James Cassidy on January 16, 2015 at 12:15 pm

I’m making a video which will be from the view of a security camera, I can do the date and the camera number using the text media in Sony Vegas, but I’m having extreme difficulty doing some ticking time.

I’ve tried using the Timecode plugin, but it’s not customizable and I can’t input any number I want it to start from, is there any other plugin I can use or get that will do this? I don’t want to have to do it all manually.

James, see if this works for you.
Add your security footage event to the timeline. Make sure it’s all by itself.
Right-click in the timecode box above the Vegas timeline and set it to Time Format > Time and Frames.
Set this to the desired start time.
Drop the Timecode FX on the Preview window and set the preset to Time and Frames.
Render this event to the format of your choice. Bring this into your project and you should now see the timecode display at the time of your choosing.
    Good luck with it.

Thanks for the tip but unfortunately it didn’t work, I changed the time to 02:53:18:00 but it started ticking the real time seconds of the video off again.

I just realized that I missed a step. Not sure if it’s the cure but it’s worth a try.
After you initially set the time code to Time and Frames, right click again in the time code box and go Time Format > Set Time at Cursor. Now enter the desired time.

Sorry for such a late reply, it hasn’t worked unfortunately.

    I might do it manually.
