    Hi folks,

I can’t find exactly what I need to pull off in the forums. Can you help me?

    – I want to use a black and white image layer to use as a particle emitter.

    – The emitter layer is the floor on a 3d layer

    – The particles are a separate layer and need to ‘stand up’ in my 3d world. (y axis)

I’ve created an image to show a mockup layout.

In this case, the star is where I want the particles to emit from and the purple rectangle is the layer I want to use as a particle.

    Thanks a bunch folks,

    Moog

The first issue I see is that you have turned your particular layer into a 3d layer. That’s not necessary and will most likely cause you problems.

You should be able to do everything you are attempting with Trapcode Particular, the custom emitter layer and custom particles(and even the rotation of them)

    Ahhhh…
    of course… I wasn’t thinking!

    Thanks…

Something else has popped up now though. When I fly may camera across, the particle stick to local space rather than world space – and therefore always stick straight up. I’m probably missing something obvious again… any clues ?

    thanks again.

Try changing your custom particles to a textured polygon.
