Custom distortion of profile of sweep object
Sorry for the ambiguous title, I’m not really sure how to describe this. I have this ribbon built with a sweep (needs to “write on”). I modified the scale profile across it to match the shape of the original file provided in illustrator (the red outline) but I can’t make the tips match. I’m trying using bulge deformers but that’s not working either.
If anyone can show me a solution to have both tips match the red spline shape it would be great.

Hi David,
You can modify this by making the sweep editable and then selecting the points you want to modify as in the attached video. You can also do this work from the beginning using Polygon Pen.

But it sounds like you want to animate the sweep, so if you make the ribbon editable, that’s going to be more tricky. I think if you duplicate the sweep, make one editable and add the deformers to it. Then you can animate the duplicated sweep, drop them both into a boole and the animation will hide the editable sweep.

Thank you, Tom! If this is the case, yes, it seems like a good idea that is worth trying. in cases like this, we can also use Joints to animate easily and get more smooth movements.

Hey Kouraib, thank you for the video, but yes, Tom is right, it needs to be animated, so I think it will use a boolean with a 2nd sweep that should build it fine.
