I am new to Sony Vegas, so please forgive my ignorance. I was trying to drag the fade offset that appears on the beginning of an audio clip in order to set the fade in. I have done it many times before, but this time I somehow screwed it up and a little dotted box became attached to the cursor. Now I cannot do things like drag the fade offset. What is this little box thingy attached to the cursor? I cannot find it documented. It probably is, but I just can’t find it. How do I get rid of it? I’ve tried everything I can think of. The only thing that got rid of it was to save the project, close Vegas and reopen it.
    Thanks,
    Charles

You have somehow switched from the ‘normal edit tool’ to the ‘selections edit tool’. The selection of this is normally made inthe top tool bar. The selections edit tool is the arrow with the dottted box around it. The normal edit tool button looks like a curser with a wiggley line through it. Or you can use CTRL+D keyboard shortcut.

Thank you Terry for your answer. I still don’t know how I got in that mode just by trying to drag the fade offset icon!
