Cursed by hundreds (400 or 500) Dead Pixels – what are my options?
I shot an hour-long concert video with 4 Canon 5Ds (2 mk 2 and 2 mk3s) and the footage is riddled with dead pixels (from 2 of the 4 cameras – the other two cameras appear to be consistently clean). I’ve attached a picture – in the shot there are at least 9 that I’ve found (and probably more). When I say riddled, there are probably 500 or more dead pixels throughout. And they don’t always appear “on” – some footage might have two or three, some footage (as in the pic I uploaded) has as many as 9 or 10.
Years ago that would have been a death knell for the project, but with advances in AE and other similar programs over the last few years, are there easy ways to fix? Is there any filter or method that is used these days that could make my job easier – I’ve heard some Assistant Editors use AI filters to help with blurring products/license plates for broadcast now, so I was hoping there might be some similar way out. I’m guessing this is an issue with Canon 5Ds in general so many people must be experiencing or have experienced this issue. Any help is appreciated.
And are there any production houses that specialize in this kind of fix? It just seems to me like this is a problem that many people face in production but I don’t hear much about it.
Thanks.
