Basically summed up in the title- we currently use Mpeg streamclip for drafts for clients (usually H264 MP4s) then we use Episode for our final compression- even if its for youtube or the web, we seem to find Episode is a little sharper and less blocky at the same file sizes. But time is the sacrifice.

We dont have a problem, I was just hoping to get some insights into the best compression software at the moment? Budget isnt an issue 🙂 (We have hardware as well- Im asking about software for various reason but hardware doesnt need to be recommended :D)

    Thanks!

Have you tried the x264/ is an improved version of H264.
you can use it through by means of Handbrake or the “x264 QT Component”.
The advantage of the last one is that takes Prores files.
    Both free.

I don’t really use enough different software to give a comparison, but what I find makes a big difference is doing a two pass conversion. It’s enormously beneficial and doesn’t actually make the final file much bigger than a single pass conversion does.

Right, and Key Frames always AUTO.
BTW, Multipass for H264 is three passes.
