  • CUP runs at 100% when playing multicam sequence

Posted by Kevin Gonzales on January 30, 2024 at 5:56 pm

Not sure if this is a premier issue or if it’s my cpu/computer. When I play a multicam sequence, only four cameras synced, my cpu shoots to 100% and starts choking. When I am out of the multi cam sequence and just playing a regular timeline it runs at around 20% and plays fine. A few months ago this did not happen. This now happenes on any project that has a multicam sequence. Anybody have any thoughts?

    Hey kevin,

I’m really old-fashioned, so never a great friend of multi-cam editing – tend to pop all cameras into a sequence and delete out what I don’t want.

However, multi-cam is here to stay.

    Couple of thoughts:
Is the file size and codec the same as previous jobs?

Is the audio coming off the cameras, and a separate audio recording? If it is 4 cameras with 8 tracks of audio + external recorded track, then that stacks up – it shouldn’t, but it does as the audio often on Adobe is “processed” into a new file.

Are there any bottlenecks or other software that is interfering with your processing? Weirdly I’ve found that Firefox and WhatsApp on Windows (10) likes to choke my PC – particularly if the C-Drive is running a bit low on space.

Just thinking out loud – there are smarter people around here, who is likely to know better.
