CUDA is available with my Nvidia Ge Force T540M and I can check it only when I render with Sony AVC
Does this mean CUDA is only available with AVC ?
Also, in Preferences, it does not give me a choice to enable GPU acceleration, it just says “off”

    any info appreciated
    Thanks

    Wouter, excellent question.

From what I’ve read, and tried to understand, not ALL cards allow for both CUDA and GPU video acceleration. From reading what you’ve written it would appear you, Wouter, CAN use CUDA (that which allows for very fast rendering) and only on certain rendering formats/templates, and those would be AVC. However, what would also appear is that you, Wouter, can’t select Video Acceleration Processing.

You may very well do one – CUDA for Rendering speeds – but not the other – make use of Video processing acceleration.

Now, if I’ve got that analysis incorrect I’ll most certainly apologise and rethink MY understanding of what is, for me, a confusing state of affairs.

Now, what I’ve been wanting to know and get some salient and intelligent understanding on all of this, is: Do I switch ON Video processing acceleration for a project which has BOTH non-GPU+GPU FXs OR set Video Processing Acceleration OFF if I have a BOTH non-GPU+GPU FXs?

Here is a link to the Sony site which describes what is going on for CUDA, GPU Acceleration and the GPU cards and setup needed to make use of both: https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/gpuacceleration

If you discover or others do any illumination on the subject, I’m all ears!

    Grazie

    Thanks, Graham.

I will select CUDA wherever available while rendering, however, there is no GPU video acceleration choice, just “off”
