Hi folks, hope you’s all well.
I’m currently educating myself with After Effects CS 5.5 and I have an irksome problem. If I create a new composition from the project panel or from the menu bar and then add files (video, stills, audio etc)to the timeline, I can’t do anything within the timeline, I can’t move the CTI, can’t trim the clips, nothing! However, If I drag a file to the new composition icon in the projects panel and create a new composition that way, everything works fine. Anyone know why?
    Much appreciated.

    Hi John,

Good morning! I think the first thing to check would be the Composition Duration. With the Comp active, got to Composition > Composition Settings and make sure it’s the length you need. I suspect that you may have inadvertently created a comp with a Duration of 00:00:00:01. This could explain why you can’t do any time based operations.

    Hope this helps!

    cheers,

    Angie

Hi Angie, you were spot on, I’ve sorted it now and it’s working fine.
    Thanks so much.
