Please Adobe, fix this major bug!

There were no problems using the same clips shot on my Sony PMW EX in PP CS5.5.2, the video worked well.

I’ve accumulated a library containing of thousands of clips that I often use. I updated to CS 6 and started noticing random tearing for just a frame here and there on some clips. It’s a horizontal tear that appears to be a combination of several frames. One partial frame on top and a later partial frame below the tear. The same clip from the same drive plays perfectly in the latest QuickTime Player.

This is definitely a bug in CS6.01 that makes my archive unusable. I’ve tried adjusting the in and out points and PP CS6 still has a very noticeable glitches in a few random clips. As a work-around, I selected new clips from other takes that are not glitching. Just when I think I have assembled a usable video from clips that don’t tear, new glitches appear.

Is Adobe aware of this issue?
Is there a fix on the way?
I have several project due soon and I am stuck with an UNUSABLE system.
Is anyone else having this issue?
For now I will uninstall the unusable PP CS6 and re-install CS5.5.2.

    Hi Nick,

Yes there’s a problem with XDCAM EX files. There is a thread at Adobe:

    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1009064?start=0&tstart=0

    It is still “under investigation”.

Workaround: Transcode to something else, or back to Pr 5.5.2

    Carl.

I think I found a simple workaround for this, no transcoding. You need to make a copy of the files through Sony XDCAM Browser.

See the mentioned thread at adobe.

    Carl.
