This isn’t a request for help so much as a complaint, and maybe a plea for a workaround. I find it absolutely amazing that we’re already on CS6 and yet STILL the Work Area Bar stops resizing automatically the second you touch it, and it’s impossible to get it back. How is it that they haven’t implemented a simple right-click “restore WAB” or something? It’s completely crazy to have to create a brand new project file, just to regain functionality that you use 99.9% of the time. I mean, I’ve never even once intentionally changed the WAB, and I can’t even think of a good reason why you’d want to do it, other than to export a specific section of the timeline, but even then you can just do it in the export box itself. As far as I can tell, not only is it pointless, but the fact that after all these years they still haven’t given us a way to restore it, seems almost intentionally evil. Do these people even use this product? 🙂

P.S. If anybody knows a workaround, and I’m completely off base, then please let me know.

If the Work Area Bar really bothers you, you have the option to turn it off in CS6, and there are shortcut keys to set the in and out points (CTRL-[, and CTRL-]). Other than these features, I don’t know of any others which control the WAB.

Actually, that’s brilliant! I’m pretty sure that was never an option in at least CS3 and CS4 (not sure about CS5).

That’s incredibly useful, thanks so much!

Actually its Alt+[ and Alt+] for setting WAB and they have been around since Ppro2.
You can also turn off the WAB and just use I and O for in- and outpoints.
Or lasso and use / (forward slash)
