    Hi Avi,

Mac or Win? What OS? Any third party hardware/plugins?

    Thanks,

Do you have the Reference monitor open? I only get this bug when I do – I think it’s connected to Premiere getting behind in processing for the reference monitor, and jumping back to the frame that it’s just done.

I think I may have had this bug back in CS3 too (my previous version) – not sure.

Wow, unganging the program monitor fixed the problem. It is annoying to have to re-gang the monitor when needed but not nearly as bad as having the play head jump around. Thanks Thomas!

For anyone else having this problem my system is:

    HP z200 – i7 870
    Win 7 Pro
    16GB Ram
    RAID 0 (3 2tb drives) video
    1 x SSD for Cache
    1 x SSD for OS

I get that problem too. It always happens when I have a Scopes tab on the desktop. Doesn’t matter if they’re active/viewable or not. If the scopes tab is up anywhere then playback will not always start where you place the CTI.

It’s a scopes issue for me too!

Thanks for the tip, it was driving me crazy…

FWIW, I am suddenly getting a similar problem in CS6 with the playhead jumping to the beginning of the timeline after I split a clip. No idea why. Very frustrating.

Playing timeline sequence. Split a clip (ctrl+k). Stop playhead (space bar). Play again (space bar) and the Playhead jumps to beginning of the entire sequence.

Posting hear because this is the first post that came up when I searched “premiere jumps to beginning of timeline after split.”

    Hi Jonas,

I know this post was some years ago, but do you remember if/how you solved the issue – I am having the same problem and cannot find any solutions on the net.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

Unfortunately it’s been awhile, and I don’t remember what I did! Sorry.

I know at some point I did a “settings purge,” but that’s a pretty desperate measure, since you lose all your preferences. I think I may have also done a reinstall of the entire suite at some point, but that’s even worse. [wink]
