  • CS5 with Vista 64 and ATI Radeon x1900 looses video display

While I am awaiting my new machine I have been experimenting with my new copy of CS5 Premiere Pro on my old machine (Vista 64 with ATI Radeon x1900 (H.264 video)). Each time I load my test project things work fine for a time varying between a couple of seconds and several minutes. In the end, however, the sequence video display always disappears and is replaced by a solid green rectangle–session over!

I see that the x1900 has only “Legacy support” with CS5. Is that a polite way of saying it doesn’t work or is something else going on here. I’ve checked and the ATI drivers don’t allow one to turn off hardware acceleration in case that is the problem. The acceleration option in PP’s project preferences is greyed out with the software acceleration option apparently on.

    Any ideas?????

You’re right, GPU acceleration won’t work on this card – but Premiere Pro should, in general. The green rectangle, most likely, is a graphic card or a system issue – see if changing the graphics card solves it.
