CS4 Interpretation Problems with MPG4 Files in Premiere and Media Encoder
I’ll warn you. I’m a bit of a technical novice when it comes to this sort of thing. And I sincerely appreciate anyone taking the time and patience with me.
I’m currently doing a project where I shoot a short film (sketch) every day. The issue having may be that I’m still using CS4 to edit 1080p files (from my Samsung Gallaxy SII Skyrocket, because it’s always on me), but the breakdown of the issue is:
– Occasional misinterpretation of orientation (sometimes showing vertically)
– Odd frame rate interpretation (showing 23.97, and sometimes .0125 with the audio playing at the correct speed)
– Occasional choppiness of video playback, especially when the frame is reoriented vertically (this is usually before the work area is rendered, so that may just be my problem)
– This interpretations being inconsitent – sometimes all being 29.97 and horizontal and then altering the next time I reopen the project, or vice versa.
– Media Encoder not being in sync with the interpretation of Premiere (both in orientation and frame rate). These projects are being made on the AVCHD setting with 1080p squarepixals at 29.97 fps.
The computer I’m using is:
Chip: Intel i7930
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R
Video Card: NVIDIA Quadro K2000
Ram: 18gigs, Wintec One 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 / ADATA Plus Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
OS: Windows 7 UltimateI edited a film a couple years ago (before the computer’s video card started to act up and it went dormant until about 4 months ago) from NonHD MiniDV tape 24p (12 hours of footage) without any problem, and then again a few months ago without any issue.
I don’t know if this is a problem CS4 has with what would have been considered a newer format at the time of its release, or a codex issue. I just don’t know how to research this, so, again, any help is greatly appreciated.
