CS3 Update
How can I uninstall CS3 without having the installer. I was using the trial version downloaded from Adobe but I can’t install the new one without uninstalling the old version completely. Is there a way to do this from the terminal?

You would want to be talking directly with Adobe. If you have purchased the software, you should have received full installation instructions. What is it you’re trying to preserve?

the beta should have come with an uninstaller… for mac it is in applications>utilities (for pc, i’m not sure).
there was an additional uninstaller for mac ae cs3 beta due to a problem with the unistaller on some systems (i guess it was a beta too). you might need to search on adobe.com.
