    Not sure how to described this… but something we take for granted until it is not there! When you put a clip on the timeline and move it to butt up against another clip a vertical arrow pops on to show that you are lined up with the other clip and those that are on different layers, revealing where the actual edit point is! My system stopped doing this yesterday. It is now hard to tell if the clips are actually butted together… you have to zoom into the timeline to check. Is there a preference that I don’t have set. I am editing an hdv project with a Matrox card, 3 gigs ram and dual quad processors. Thanks, I hope I described this properly.

    Hi Dave,

    Look on the top left side of your timeline, you’ll find the “snap” icon (horseshoe magnet), just push it in.

    hit S on the keyboard, its also located on the timeline as a magnet. snapping?

    Thanks, I must have accidentally clicked on the “magnet” and forgot about this setting.
