Tried to import an mpeg-2 encoded file into CS3, and get a message in the monitor telling me “media pending.”

Import the same file into CS2, and it plays just fine after rendering. Any ideas what’s going on?

(I really want to use CS3, but for many things, I have to drop back to CS2 to get my work done. Most frustrating.)

Mpeg2 has always been a hit or miss in Premiere (and most other editors). Why it worked in CS2 and not CS3 I don’t know, but you should be so lucky that it works at all. Even if it works, you might also get out of sync audio, jumps and pops, these don’t always appear rght away either.

I now always put the files through Tmpgenc express and spit out an uncompresed AVI.

If a client only has their footage in DVD format, I automatically add a line to the invoice.
