  CS3 Mac crash problem

  Photoshop CS3 on my PacPro is crashing everytime I try to open or save a file using the FILE menu dropdown.
  However, I can drag and drop a file on to the application icon and it will open and function.
  I can also save using apple + S keys.
  It seems to be the file menu that is crashing photoshop.

  anyone else run into this? know how to fix?
