Running xp, Dell 650 WS, 2GB RAM, 2 x 2GHz Xeon Upgraded to CS3 Windows. PS Memory=1065 MB (60%); Cache=2; Cache drive has 184 GB available.
Starts okay, but loading any file takes a very long time, UNLESS I log off the network. Running standalone, files load just fine, but that’s not going to be a good solution.
    I appreciate any ideas.

You probably have already done this, but in case you haven’t, check your swap disk preferences. Mine would occasionally mysteriously reset and I’d have to change the first disk to D (my default) and so on. HTH

An offline network printer, set as the default, was the culprit. I deleted the offending printer, and all is well.

Don’t you just hate it when such an oddball problem takes up so much time?
    Glad you found it. 🙂
