I just bought a HVX-200 and absolutely love it. I have only shot on DV so far but I did a few tests shooting to the PS card in dvc-hd 720p.

I tried here at my work to import the P2 files to Final Cut 6 and i followed the instructions but for some reason the mxf files won’t show up. Oh well that is for another forum post.

But I want to know how CS3 handles the P2 card situation. Is there presets for all the dvcproHD720p and 1080i. Like when you first start up premiere?

I’m currently working with CS2 Premiere Pro and love it. Works great in DV but I know it won’t handle P2 mxf files or maybe I am wrong.

I downloaded a trial of CS3 Premiere Pro and of course doesn’t have any good present codecs for P2.

So basicly my question is anyone out there using CS3 for P2 files? I figured I would ask before I shell out 299 for the upgrade and find out it doesn’t have it.

    I always try here first.
    Thanks

Yep, and it works great, much better than FCP may I add.

Most imports (you just drag everything from the video folder, and it will find the related audio) take about 20 seconds, and you can also edit directly on, or export back to the card.

    Cheers,

Are you using the preset DVCPro HD settings or a custom “Desktop” preset?

Cool yeah the cs3 demo of premiere doesn’t seem to have the preset for dvcproHD so it got me nervous that it was some kind of thing i needed to load in.

I just want to pick the codec and the project right off the bat when you first open cs3 premiere. I am going to order the software today the upgrade version.

I can’t wait to see how the footage is going to look even though the output will still be to down-res it to DVD. Still fun to know HD is available if I need it.

    Thanks for posting

There are P2 presets. The quality from DVCPro HD to DVD puts DV to shame.

Well I bought and got the upgrade of CS3 Premiere. I loaded it up this morning and there are no presets for P2.

I am guessing I should of Deleted the Demo I tried that didn’t have the presets either. It said it was loading new components that didn’t come with the demo seeing I registered it and activated it correctly but when I go to the presets there is nothing that has changed and no P2 set up.

I know it has to be there. Anyone know how to get it there? should I reinstall? Should I deactivate it.

I might call adobe for help but I always try here first

    Thanks

Absolutely uninstall the demo, and delete the Premiere folder if it’s still there. If it were me, I would start with a clean OS install…

Wow a whole OS install? Wow that will be difficult. I still have a lot of projects I have with Ppro2 on here. I can’t chance to loose them.

I will dry deactivatiing it first tomorrow and then delete CS3 and then reinstalling it.

    Hopefully that will do it.

I still want to keep PProCs2 on this seeing it works like a charm and need it for everyday editing at work

    Thanks for your response

The OS install would just be a good idea to get a fresh start, but not if you have active projects.

The uninstall should do it for the a good working upgrade.

Well I deactivated it and reloaded it and it didn’t work

still no presets for Panasonic P2 Card files.

I wonder if I can install this codec manually?

I searched the install disc but can’t seem to find anything that jumps out at me.

who would of thought this would be so hard. Just an upgrade and now going on two weeks

Thanks for help so far and thanks in advance for future help
