  Crossfades not showing up

  Hello from a Vegas Edit newbie. I have been using Movie Studio since version 7, but I made the minor jump to Vegas Edit 19. I know there is a simple fix to my issue, but I just can’t located it. I am trying to do crossfades between video segments, but in my preview (doesn’t matter what settings my preview is set at, currently it is set to Best and Auto, but I typically don’t have it set that high), it doesn’t show the crossfades, it just cuts from one clit to the next, even when I have the clips overlapped by 1 or more seconds.

   

  Also, I tried to insert a Transition (Dissolve), but when I try to drop it onto the timeline, all I get is the red circle with the diagonal slash through it.

  What am I missing?
