I am looking for the transition effect in Premier Pro that will provide a smooth cross fade between two clips joined on the time line. The effect is one where the fist clip becomes gradually replaced by the proceeeding clip in a nice even blend. I have tried to use the cross disolve transition many times and cannot get the effect described.

In Sony Vegas simply draging the a proceeding clip backwards and over the preceeding clip created this very smooth transition which I am attempting to find in Premier Pro.

I would appreciate any feed-back on this topic.

    Thanks!!

There has to be sufficient video available on the clips after the out point of the first clip and before the in point of the second clip to cover the dissolve duration. You have probably set your in and out points at the end of the clips. Cross dissolve is the proper transition.

Do the same thing. Drag the second clip over the first by 30 frames and then apply the cross dissolve to the beginning of the second clip (start at cut).
