  • Crops appear OK in Preview, Not OK in final project

When cropping, the preview is fine, but when I play the DVD on any television (I have tried 4 different ones), the images tend to be wider than what I cropped them. This causes anything that is near the edge to be pushed off the edge of the screen.

I have “stretch to fill frame” selected. When I turn this off, the problem goes away, but the frame is not filled either.

As my name suggests, I am a newbie to Vegas, so any help would be appreciated.

    thanks!

PS. I am using Vegas 6.0d

This is called ‘overscan’. All CRT TVs crop off the edges to one degree or another. If you need a reminder of the area that will most likely be included on all TVs, turn on the Safe Area guide on the preview.

    Thank you!

Where do I turn this on?
I looked under “Preferences; Video and Video Preview display.”
It shows “Action safe area 10%” and “Title safe area 20%”. But didn’t see where to turn the guide off or on.

Does the “Display at Project size” and “Simulate device aspect ratio” need to be checked? They are unchecked currently.

    Thanks again,

It’s the little button with the grid just above the preview window. And the drop down at the right edge of that button. 😉
