    Hey cows,

I’m about to start working on an animated video clip. I know that, when the video is completed, it’ll be broadcasted by some music channels at 4:3 (720×576 with a D1/DV PAL pixel aspect ratio, 1.07). They don’t accept 16:9 videos.

However, I don’t want to use the 4:3 proportions. I want to have a wide image, something like 16:9.

My question is: can I simply mask the top and bottom of my 4:3 composition, so I end up with an image size of 720×405 (at the same D1/DV PAL aspect ratio)? Or is it possible that the broadcast station won’t accept this either?

Is this what they call “letterboxing”?

    Thanks
