  • Creating text layers in afx 7

Posted by Jason Heaster on October 5, 2006 at 5:08 pm

When I create a text layer using the type tool, AFX 7 puts the start point of that layer at the beginning of my comp, instead of where the edit line is (as it did in 6.5). What that means is that if my ‘import still image’ duration is set to comp size, the text layer appears over everything for the entire duration of my comp and I have to adjust the in and out points of the text… and if the duration is set to a particular value, it puts it at the beginning and I have to drag it where I need it. Gets to be time consuming after a while.

    Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jason

Check your preferences. There’s an option for creating new layers like solids at the current time indicator and that setting also applies to text.

Ah thanks! It’s a little checkbox in the general prefs called “create layers at comp start time”.

    Much better!

    Thanks,
