  • Creating “simple spacing” based on 1 shape layer

Ladies & Gents, happy and prosperous new year to everyone!

Please, forgive my “basic” question, I’m just getting started with expressions, sometimes the start can be challanging. I’m writing in this forums, because I couldn’t find the proper answer to this question, yet. (Still looking though)

I’m creating Lottie animations (if you are not familiar with them, they are fast and lightweight vector web animations), and they are relatively “limited”, so unfortunately, I can’t use repeater for this particular task.

My aim is to setup a slider ctrl for spacing shape layers, based on the center of the comp (and the first shape), to dynamically able to adjust parameters while animating. The concept is simple, only one shape fills up the entire comp, but I’d like to have each “layer” above to to each other be able to scale from the middle of the comp/ 1st shape.

I’m attaching imgs about the overall concept.

    Any answer highly appreciated,

    Best regards and happy expressing,
    Charles

So what’s supposed to happen as you increase the slider?

    Hi Dan,

    Thanks for getting back.
My thought is this: when we increase the slider value, the spacing between the layers (you can see the rose guidelines) would increase to, if that makes sense.

Sorry for being so dense. How many layers are there?

Perhaps, its my bad explaining things…
I count with ~300 shape layers, and that would create approx. 12 different layers (based on the guidleines).
I believe, there is a lot going on here 🙂

However, for now (just to try out things) I would work with less than the half of these specs

Sorry, I just don’t understand enough about what you’re trying to do or how it’s supposed to work to offer a suggestion. Maybe someone else will chime in…

This is the effect I’d like to achieve, but with no repeater

    Thank you anyway
