Creating Shot Lists and Cue Sheets from a FCP EDL?
We’ve been dealing with this issue for a long time and I wonder if anyone has a solution…
We constantly have to create music cue sheets and/or shot sheets for projects both during and after completion. I’ve yet to find a quick way of doing so without an awful lot of manual typing and cut and paste from EDLs imported into Excel.
I’d love to find a product, plug-in or workaround that would automate as much of this as possible (FC Server? Will that ever see the light of day?)
The way we do them now is exporting an EDL, importing to Excel and reorganizing so we at least have the Clip # and TC on one line and then cut and paste the reel and clip name from below to fill out the sheet, then use a TC calculator for durations (Excel with a Timecode plug in would be a godsend) and manually fill in additional info (i.e. descriptions, etc.)
I’ve played with exporting batch lists (which gives me fields I wish I had in the EDL) but since you cant export a batch list with sequence TC that’s not too useful.
Cinema Tools works great for this sort of thing (although it’s been a couple years since I’ve worked on a feature) but we’re working with video and stills (unless there is a way to create a database from FCP that will export what we need.)
I’ve found a couple programs via Google search but none for Mac.
Any suggestions?
